The seismic method uses the propagation of elastic waves to describe the medium through which it passes. It is by far the most widely used method in oil exploration, due to its reliability, speed and economy compared to other methods. However, it is rarely used in mineral exploration. Seismic technology is taught in the Geophysics Department at graduate and post-graduate levels, and even at the LABOPHYT laboratory, where seminars are organized for doctoral students.
